◆ Synopsis of Episode 5 of 'The Part-Time Life of a Hero and a Corporate Slave'
Kuzuru, who was a lousy hero, was somehow sent to modern Japan and ended up working at a really black game company, but as a result, he inevitably gained knowledge and determination, and became a great hero. As a result, he even faced off against the Dullahan, one of the most powerful monsters, and defeated him.
One day, a monster called 'Marutas' appears before Kuzuru. Marutas is a boss of monsters called 'Tasks' that are not very strong, but he is no match for the grown-up Kuzuru.
However, what came out of Maltas' mouth was a 'Ping pong!', a sound that Kuzuru was unfamiliar with in the other world and had heard all too well.
This sound was a notification for a message sent by Kuzuru's boss, who had surprised Kuzuru by saying 'Come back to the office quickly' when they had once entered into a feud, and who had threatened Kuzuru during his bathroom break by saying 'I know you're slacking off there.'
For Kuzuru, who is too busy at work, a call from his boss is a death sentence. Maltas, who should be able to fight normally, is chanting that sound over and over again, making it impossible for Kuzuru to fight back.
One of the members of the hero's party, Faron, helps Kuzuru. But the next time he meets Maltas, he might not be able to survive. What is the 'special move' that the genius girl Faron suggests to the lamenting Kuzuru?

◆GSC Members Only Bonus Episode 5: Monster Making
In episode 5, two monsters appear: Modified Maltas, who stands in Kuzuru's way, and Ifrog, who works together with him to defeat Modified Maltas.
First, let's talk about 'modified Maltas.' Maltas is the boss of the monster 'Task' (see image on the left), and Maltas (see image on the right) is a version of Task wearing fashionable clothes and a hood.
The modified Maltas is characterized by its ability to attack with sound, so in the original design the club it held in its hand was shaped like a megaphone.
In the end, we decided to use the Maltus design as the main focus, with a different color scheme. Since the scenario was that the modified Maltus was larger than the regular one, we devised a chunky impression to give it a sense of weight.
Since the only specification for Ifrog was that it was a 'fire-wielding frog,' the illustrator adjusted the design in great detail. Below, we see them considering the shape of the ears and horns.
We had the idea of Ifrog being surrounded by flames, and we were considering other ways to use flames. We also had a unique idea of a flame being used as a tie.
Once the general direction was decided, we made fine adjustments while checking the shape of the horns and the flame.
Since the main story is in full color, I also considered colors that would stand out in color. The final design was '2' below, and according to the author, 'I wanted to give the impression that by being summoned, she earns her own money just like an adventurer, so she's dressed like an adventurer and wearing rich-looking accessories.'
Finally, the cover art for episode 5. It's a cute picture of Fallon daydreaming about summoned beasts, but the contrast between Kuzuru complaining about his work and his friends relaxing in a hot spring was interesting, so this was the one that was used in the main story.
