On May 8, 2026, Nintendo announced price increases for its products and services, including the Nintendo Switch 2. While

the multi-language version of the Nintendo Switch 2 sold on the My Nintendo Store will not see a price increase, the suggested retail price for the Japanese-language, domestic-only version of the Nintendo Switch 2 will rise by 10,000 yen to 59,980 yen starting May 25, 2026.

Nintendo announced price increases for its products and services, stating, 'In response to various changes in the market environment and after reviewing future global business prospects, we will be changing the manufacturer's suggested retail prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch consoles in Japan as follows.'

The price increase for game consoles is as follows. The price on the left is the current price, and the price on the right is the revised price. The manufacturer's suggested retail price change in Japan will take effect on May 25, 2026.

Nintendo Switch 2 (Japanese version, Japan only) : ¥49,980 → ¥59,980
Nintendo Switch (OLED model) : ¥37,980 → ¥47,980
Nintendo Switch : ¥32,978 → ¥43,980
Nintendo Switch Lite : ¥21,978 → ¥29,980



Due to the long-term impact of changes in market conditions, the selling price of the Nintendo Switch 2 will also change outside of Japan. The price changes in the United States, Canada, and Europe will take effect from September 1, 2026.

United States: $449.99 (approx. 70,500 yen) → $499.99 (approx. 78,300 yen)
Canada: 629.99 Canadian dollars (approximately 72,100 yen) → 679.99 Canadian dollars (approximately 77,800 yen)

Furthermore, the Nintendo Switch Online paid game subscription service will also see a price increase in Japan. A price increase for Nintendo Switch Online is also planned in South Korea, but it is unclear how the price will change.

In addition, Nintendo will also be changing the prices of its playing cards, hanafuda (Japanese playing cards), and kabufuda (Japanese stock cards) sold in Japan, due to increased costs, including rising material prices.
