Comments on The Verge ranged from harsh comments like, 'That's weird. If Microsoft has unsold inventory and wants to get rid of it quickly, they could lower the price and sell it faster. Oh, and if they claim it's worth $800, they'll get a bigger tax deduction when they put it away in landfills.' to criticisms of Microsoft like, 'Microsoft doesn't seem to want to sell hardware anymore. Their failure was due to a lack of leadership in not understanding that they needed compelling games to sell consoles.' There was also a comment like, 'If the price goes up for something that no one is buying, can we really say that it's gone up?'
