Is Pixel or iPhone better for shooting action vlogs? We actually shot a video and compared them to see if they could replace an action camera.
Recently, an increasing number of smartphones are capable of capturing stable video even in situations with significant shaking, such as when shooting video while running. I was curious about the video recording capabilities of Google's Pixel 10 series, which was released on August 28, 2025, so I compared the performance of the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro.
Google Pixel 10 Series - Inspiration and AI in the Age of Creation
The Pixel 10 can shoot video at up to 4K at 60fps, but it cannot shoot HDR video at 4K at 60fps.
The Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL can shoot 8K video at 30fps, but they cannot shoot HDR at 4K at 60fps or higher.
So, below are videos shot at 4K and 60fps on the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro. For movements such as walking on a flat road, all models naturally compensate for shaking.
Next, I took some photos while driving on the same road. The iPhone 16 Pro had the least amount of shake, while the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro had about the same amount of shake.

The Pixel 10 series allows you to switch the video stabilization setting to 'Action' to effectively reduce shake, similar to action cameras like GoPro. However, enabling Action limits the recording settings to a maximum of 1080p and 30fps. The iPhone 16 Pro also has a similar feature called 'Action Mode,' which allows you to record video with less shake at up to 1080p and 60fps.
Below are videos taken with Action Mode enabled on the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro. While the Pixel 10 produced unnatural distortion, the Pixel 10 Pro produced a video with less distortion. The iPhone 16 Pro produced the smoothest video.
As mentioned above, HDR is disabled when shooting 4K 60fps video on the Pixel 10 series. Below are the results of checking videos shot on the Pixel 10 and iPhone 16 Pro using MediaInfo , which allows you to check detailed video information. We can see that the Pixel 10 records in an 8-bit color space, while the iPhone 16 Pro records in 10-bit.
Also, the Pixel 10 recorded 2 channels of audio, while the iPhone 16 Pro recorded 4 channels.

As the environment for playing 4K HDR videos is becoming more and more extensive, the iPhone 16 Pro, which can shoot 4K 60fps HDR videos, wins in terms of video performance.
The photography performance of the Pixel 10 series is summarized in detail in the following article.

The Pixel 10 series supports the content provenance technology ' C2PA Content Credentials ,' and photos taken with the Pixel series have provenance information embedded in them. We plan to publish an article soon that explains how to check the history information on the Pixel 10 series and examines the effectiveness of the provenance information.
