A thorough comparison of the camera performance of the 'Pixel 10 Pro with 100x zoom' and the 'Pixel 10 with a triple-lens camera' with a standard model, including many examples of actual photos taken, such as food photography and night photography.

Google's smartphones, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, were released on August 28, 2025. The GIGAZINE editorial team conducted benchmark tests on the three models, which revealed that

there was no significant difference in processor performance . This makes camera performance a key factor when deciding which model to purchase. Therefore, we thoroughly examined the differences in camera performance between the standard and Pro models.

◆1: Camera specs of the Pixel 10 series
The Pixel 10's rear camera is a triple-lens configuration: a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto camera. The previous generation model had a dual-lens configuration, but the Pixel 10 now has a triple-lens configuration with the addition of a telephoto camera.

The back of the Pixel 10 Pro is equipped with a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera.

The camera configuration of the Pixel 10 Pro XL is the same as that of the Pixel 10 Pro.

So, this time I took various photos with the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro to compare their camera performance. The sample photos in this article have not been edited other than by resizing, and you can click on each example to see the original image before it was reduced.

◆2: Compare zoom performance
The Pixel 10 can take photos with a zoom range of 0.5x to 20x. Below is a photo taken at 0.5x. The sky color is not too dark and looks natural, which is good.

The same spot photographed at 1x magnification.

5 times.

This is what it looks like at 20 times the size.

I moved the camera a little and took a photo at 20x magnification. The roughness is noticeable when you zoom in, but the image quality is sufficient to roughly record things like 'how many people were there' and 'what the weather was like.'

Next, take a photo of the same spot with the Pixel 10 Pro. The Pixel 10 Pro can take photos with a zoom range of 0.5x to 100x. At 0.5x, it looks like this.

1x. Outdoors in bright daylight, there isn't much difference between the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro.

5 times.

10 times.

The maximum magnification is 100x. At magnifications of 30x or higher, '

Super Resolution Zoom Pro ' is automatically enabled, which uses AI for super-resolution processing.

Super Resolution Zoom Pro is good at photographing man-made objects such as radio towers and bridges, but it is not so good at depicting subjects such as people or text. More details about Super Resolution Zoom Pro are summarized in the article below.

◆3: Comparing macro shooting performance
There's a big difference in macro photography performance between the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro. This is what it looks like when you bring the Pixel 10 as close as possible to the subject while still being in focus.

The shooting results are below.

With the Pixel 10 Pro, you can get so close you can almost touch it.

The results are as follows: We were able to capture a detailed macro photo in which even the frayed fibers of the thread are visible.

◆4: Comparing food photography performance
Let's compare the performance of photographing rice. First, we took a photo of ramen from '

Menya Nana ' with the Pixel 10.

The same ramen was photographed on the Pixel 10 Pro, and the image is slightly brighter, making the green onions more vibrant.

Fried rice photographed with the Pixel 10.

The egg color is lighter on the Pixel 10 Pro.

Dal Bhat from

Nepali Restaurant Balpipal was photographed with the Pixel 10.

Pixel 10 Pro. There's almost no difference.

I got up close to the soup and took a photo.

When you're closer to the subject, the Pixel 10 Pro takes higher-resolution photos.

Well-cooked chicken photographed with the Pixel 10.

This is what it looks like with the Pixel 10 Pro. When taking photos at a restaurant, there's basically no big difference in usability, but when I got closer to get a closer shot of the food, the Pixel 10 Pro was able to focus more clearly and take photos more smoothly.

◆5: Compare nighttime shooting performance
Finally, let's take a photo of a cityscape at night. Below is a photo of the road in front of the station taken with the Pixel 10. In an environment with a light source such as a street lamp, there was no need to pause for a few seconds, and I was able to take pictures just as easily as I did during the day.

The same spot was photographed with the Pixel 10 Pro, which produced a clearer image.

Photographed from above the road with the Pixel 10.

Even in this composition, the Pixel 10 Pro captured a clearer image. The difference is clear when you focus on the outlines of the traffic lights and signs.

A bus terminal photographed with a Pixel 10. There are ghosting effects around the large lights.

There was no ghosting with the Pixel 10 Pro. The Pixel 10 Pro takes overwhelmingly better photos at night.

◆6: Summary
After comparing the camera performance of the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro, we found that the Pixel 10 Pro has advantages such as 'high macro photography performance,' 'clear nighttime cityscape photography,' and 'up to 100x zoom using AI.' However, there was no noticeable difference when taking photos of outdoor shots or food during the day, and the AI-powered zoom function, while interesting as a gadget, was not accurate enough to be considered practical. Therefore, when prioritizing camera performance when choosing a model to purchase, key points to consider are 'how important macro photography and nighttime photography are' and 'whether you would like to use the AI-powered 100x zoom function.'

We plan to publish a comparison of the video recording performance of the Pixel 10 series and iPhone 16 Pro, as well as a review article on 'Camera Coach,' which uses AI to automatically recognize subjects and provide guidance on how to take photos.
