A thorough review of the battery charging performance and battery life of the 'Xiaomi 15', which comes with a 90W fast charger that can be fully charged within an hour

◆Verifying the quick charging performance of the Xiaomi 15
This is the charging adapter that comes with the Xiaomi 15. It has '90W' written on it in large letters.



The maximum output is 90W at 20V and 4.5A.



The connector is USB Type-A.



A cable with USB Type-A on one side and USB Type-C on the other side is also included.



Let's actually verify the charging time using a 90W charging adapter. First, switch the wired charging mode to 'Top Speed' in the Xiaomi 15 settings.



In this state, let the battery level drop to 0% and then connect it to a 90W charging adapter.



The graph below shows the battery level recorded every 10 minutes from the start of charging. For the first 20 minutes, the battery charge progressed at a rate of 30% or more every 10 minutes, reaching 98% after 40 minutes. And at 50 minutes, it was 100%.



We used

the FLIR i3 infrared thermography to measure the temperature of each part during fast charging. The surface with the display was around 41 degrees.



The back rises to around 42 degrees.



The temperature around the USB cable connector was around 33 degrees.



The temperature of the charging adapter rose to around 50 degrees.



By the way, when you connect the Xiaomi 15 to a 90W charging adapter, a screen will appear for a few seconds that shows the remaining battery level to two decimal places, as shown below.



◆ Battery life
The battery capacity of the Xiaomi 15 is 5240mAh. To see how long it lasts, we will conduct a test in which we play YouTube videos from a fully charged state and measure the time it takes for the battery to run out.

First, set the power mode of the Xiaomi 15 to 'Balanced'.



In this state, we played

a YouTube video and measured the time it took for the battery to reach 0% and the device to shut down. Note that the screen brightness was set to maximum, the volume was also set to maximum, and the device was connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi.



After 8 hours and 54 minutes of playing the video, the battery level hit 0% and the screen went off.



◆ Performance measurement using benchmark apps
The Xiaomi 15 is equipped with Qualcomm's high-performance SoC '

Snapdragon 8 Elite '. I was curious about how much processing power it had, so I measured its performance with the benchmark app ' AnTuTu Benchmark '.

First, set the power mode to 'Balanced.'



The AnTuTu Benchmark scores are as follows: overall score 2,469,620, CPU score 571,167, GPU score 1,063,791, memory score 461,860, and UX score 365,144.



Next, switch the power mode to 'Performance mode'.



The scores are as follows: Overall score was 2,609,542, CPU score was 573,083, GPU score was 1,133,4852, memory score was 528,211, and UX score was 373,396.
