First, for the XR headset ' Galaxy XR ' released by Samsung in October 2025, a feature called 'PC Connect' will be implemented, which will allow users to connect a Windows PC to the headset and display the PC's desktop and windows side by side with Google Play apps. This will enable a work environment that is not possible on a laptop screen and will make it possible to bring PC games into the headset. PC Connect will be available in beta from December 9, 2025.

Additionally, Travel Mode has been introduced, allowing you to create a workspace while maintaining a stable field of view, even in tight spaces while on the move.

Additionally, to make video calls feel more natural, users can now create a 'Likeness,' a digital version of their face that reflects their facial expressions and hand movements in real time. Likeness will also be rolled out in beta starting December 9th.

Google also revealed that it is working with Samsung, sunglasses manufacturer Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker to develop lightweight, comfortable smart glasses that can be worn for extended periods of time. The glasses will come in two varieties: one with a speaker, microphone, and camera that functions as an AI assistant, and another with an in-lens display that can privately display directions, translated subtitles, and more. These AI smart glasses are expected to be available in 2026.

XREAL will also release Project Aura, the 'first Android XR compatible smart glasses,' in 2026, with more information to be released in 2026. At the time of writing, it has already been revealed that the glasses will feature a 70-degree field of view and see-through optical technology, allowing digital information to be overlaid on real-world scenery.

The Verge , an IT news site, experienced Project Aura first and stated, 'The biggest advantage in terms of experience is that, thanks to Android XR app compatibility, you can use apps and features created for the Galaxy XR as they are,' and 'The demo as AI glasses was highly polished, and it ran the gamut of typical smart glasses experiences. In particular, the Gemini-based controls seem to meet most of the practical requirements for AI glasses.' Additionally, the Verge also reported that 'Project Aura will be compatible with iOS devices, not just Android.'

For developers, the Android XR SDK Developer Preview 3 has been released, officially enabling development for AI smart glasses and providing tools and APIs for augmented experiences.
