Anthropic serves over 300,000 customers, including those with recurring revenues of over $100,000, and has seen its number of large customers grow by nearly sevenfold in the past year. The expansion of its capabilities through this partnership with Google is expected to help the company meet customer demand.
'Anthropic and Google have a longstanding partnership, and this latest expansion will enable us to continue expanding the computing power needed to define the frontiers of AI,' said Krishna Rao, CFO of Anthropic. 'From Fortune 500 companies to AI-native startups, our customers rely on Claude for their most critical tasks, and this expanded capacity will help us meet exponential growth in demand while ensuring our model remains at the forefront of the industry.'
'Anthropic's decision to significantly expand its use of TPUs is driven by the cost-effectiveness and efficiency the team has seen with TPUs over the years,' said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud. 'Building on our mature portfolio of AI accelerators, including our 7th-generation Ironwood TPU, we continue to innovate to make TPUs even more efficient and powerful.'
Anthropic is focused on a diversified approach that efficiently leverages three chip platforms: Google's TPU, Amazon's Trainium , and NVIDIA's GPU. The company said its multi-platform strategy will enable it to continuously drive improvements to Claude while maintaining strong partnerships across the industry.
Anthropic is also working with Amazon to jointly develop 'Project Rainier,' a large-scale computing cluster spanning multiple data centers and requiring hundreds of thousands of AI chips.
