How to fix the 'iOS 26 screen difficulty' issue by reducing the Liquid Glass transparency effect and improving iPhone visibility

iOS 26 , released on September 16, 2025 (Japan time), features a new design called Liquid Glass , which makes extensive use of translucency. However, depending on the environment, text and buttons can be difficult to see. There is a setting that can reduce transparency to improve visibility, so we've summarized the setup procedure and the changes to appearance.

This is what the notification screen looks like on an iPhone 16 with iOS 26 installed. Because each notification is semi-transparent and the wallpaper shows through, the text can be difficult to read depending on the color of the wallpaper. Incidentally, the initial beta version was even harder to read, but after multiple adjustments , it has arrived at its current appearance.

To reduce the transparency of Liquid Glass, follow these steps: First, open the Settings app and tap 'Accessibility.'

Tap 'Display and text size.'

Switch the 'Reduce Transparency' toggle switch to ON.

This reduces the transparency and makes the notification content easier to read.

The initial state (left) and the state after applying the settings (right) are shown side by side. Visibility has improved dramatically.

The home screen looks like this. Notifications are now easier to read, and folders and the dock (the fixed area at the bottom of the screen) are also easier to see.

The app library is the same.

This is what it looks like in the Photos app. The various buttons are now easier to see. However, the number of images displayed has decreased. Depending on the app, the display may change significantly, so you should decide whether to lower the transparency or not based on how you use it.
