'Mont Blanc Thunder' tasting review that gives you a taste of Mont Blanc with a moderate sweetness and autumn-like chestnut flavor

Yuraku Confectionery, known for its Black Thunder, will be releasing a new product called 'Mont Blanc Thunder,' a combination of the classic autumn dessert 'Mont Blanc ' and Black Thunder, in convenience stores starting on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. This autumn-like Black Thunder arrived at our editorial department, so we tried it out a little early.

The package for 'Montblanc Thunder' looks like this.

I took it out of the bag and found that the top half was rugged and coated in a light brown colour reminiscent of Mont Blanc, while the bottom half was coated in a smooth chocolate coating.
When you line up the regular 'Black Thunder' (left) and 'Mont Blanc Thunder' (right), it looks like this. The Black Thunder is slightly larger, and you can see that the 'Mont Blanc Thunder' has fine cookies scattered on the surface.

If you cut the Mont Blanc Thunder and look at the cross section, you'll see that it contains biscuits, cookies, and marron glacé-flavored

When I actually tried it, the rich aroma of chestnut spread throughout my mouth, and the deep, rich flavor of chestnut and the moderate sweetness made it truly Mont Blanc-like. The crunchy texture of the cookies and biscuits and the subtle saltiness also enhanced the Mont Blanc tart-like feel.

'Mont Blanc Thunder' will be released in advance at convenience stores nationwide from Tuesday, August 26, 2025, and will be available at supermarkets and drugstores from Monday, September 15. The suggested retail price is 54 yen including tax.
