However, 9to5Mac's analysis of the Xcode 26 beta revealed that preparations are underway to incorporate Anthropic's Claude. According to 9to5Mac, the internal code includes specific model names such as Claude Sonnet 4.0 and Claude Opus 4, and also confirms a mechanism for directly using Anthropic accounts. This will likely provide native support for Claude on par with ChatGPT.

Behind this move lies a partnership between Apple and Anthropic. American financial newspaper Bloomberg reported in May 2025 that Apple is working with Anthropic to develop a new AI-driven software platform, and that Anthropic is internally testing a new version of Xcode that integrates Claude Sonnet at its core. The system will write and modify code at the request of programmers, as well as assist with UI testing and bug fixes, with the aim of streamlining a process that was previously manual and cumbersome.

Apple has previously stuck to its own AI development, but its proprietary AI coding assistant, Swift Assist, announced in 2024, has not yet been officially released at the time of writing. Problems have been raised within Apple, including the generation of false information due to hallucinations and delays in development.

Apple is considering adding support for Google Gemini in addition to OpenAI and Anthropic, and it appears that by expanding its partnerships with external models, it will be able to make up for delays in the development of its own AI.

The integration of Claude in Xcode 26 is an extension of this partnership, allowing developers to use not only Apple's proprietary models and ChatGPT, but also Claude natively. 9to5Mac also points out that the server configuration description suggests that 'Claude may be integrated into Siri and system writing tools,' suggesting Apple's intention to strengthen AI support across its ecosystem.

Apple also announced that it would integrate Apple Intelligence with its voice recognition assistant, Siri, but due to delays in the development of its own AI, it is reportedly shifting to using ChatGPT and Claude as the core.
