Apple confirms that the release of Apple Intelligence's 'evolved Siri' has been delayed to 2026

Apple spokesperson Jacqueline Roy responded to Markdown creator John Gruber's blog Daring Fireball by saying that the release of Apple Intelligence's improved Siri has been delayed until 2026.

Apple announced its own personal AI, 'Apple Intelligence,' at WWDC24 held in June 2024. The English version of Apple Intelligence was released in iOS 18.1 , which was distributed in October of the same year, and some of the features announced at WWDC24 became available. Initially, the evolved Siri of Apple Intelligence was also scheduled to be available in iOS 18.

However, there have been frequent reports that development of Apple Intelligence's evolved Siri has been delayed, and it has been pointed out that it outputs more incorrect answers than the previous Siri.

This evolved version of Apple Intelligence, Siri, is also called ' LLM Siri ' and has been reported to be released in 2026 or 2027.

Regarding 'LLM Siri,' Apple spokesperson Roy issued a statement to Daring Fireball, officially acknowledging that the release is taking longer than expected.

'Siri helps users find what they need and get things done quickly. Over the past six months, we've made Siri more conversational, introducing new features like typing to Siri and product knowledge, and adding integration with ChatGPT. We're also working on a more personalized Siri, making it more aware of users' personal context and adding the ability to take actions on their behalf within and across apps,' said Roy. 'It will take longer to realize these features than we originally thought, but we expect them to be rolled out in 2026.'

According to previous reports, Apple was planning to release LLM Siri in iOS 18.4, but before the beta version of iOS 18.4 was released, it was reported that 'LLM Siri is not yet ready.'

As part of its Apple Intelligence updates, Apple has already introduced features like the “Type to Siri” feature, integration with ChatGPT, and more natural language understanding.

Also, at the time of writing, Apple Intelligence is not available in Japanese, but support for Japanese is scheduled for early April 2025.
