Speaking at Google I/O, Josh Woodward, vice president of Google Labs and Gemini, said, 'Gemini is an AI assistant for browsing the Internet on your PC. The amazing thing about it is that it automatically understands the context of the page you're currently viewing.'

Once 'Gemini in Chrome' is enabled, you can talk to Gemini by opening it via the Gemini icon in your top bar or system tray, or via Chrome's keyboard shortcuts, and typing your question in the text box.

You can also use Gemini for voice conversations by launching Gemini Live.

In the future, Google says Gemini will be able to handle transactions across multiple tabs, navigate websites on your behalf, and automate tasks.

Gemini in Chrome has been released to US Windows and macOS users who have their Chrome language settings set to English. To use it, you need to subscribe to either the $29.00/month Google AI Pro or the newly announced $36.40/month Google AI Ultra subscription plan.
