This is what the Aria Gen 2 looks like.

Inside are an RGB camera, a

6DoF SLAM camera (a camera that detects motion), an eye tracking camera, a spatial microphone, an inertial measurement unit (IMU), a barometric pressure sensor, a magnetic sensor, a global navigation satellite system (GNSS), a PPG sensor for measuring heart rate, and a contact microphone that can distinguish between the user's voice and the voices of those around them. The PPG sensor and contact microphone are the advantages over the previous generation model Aria Gen 1.

Renzo De Nardi, a Meta researcher, explains the Aria Gen 2. He says that all of the gaudy equipment he is holding in his right hand is packed into the Aria Gen 2.

The Aria Gen 2 uses various sensors to recognize the surrounding situation and the user's movements and provide assistance according to the situation. The image below shows the Aria Gen 2 tracking the gaze and finger movements.

Meta is working with technology company Envision to research the use of Aria Gen 2 as a navigation system for the visually impaired. The video below shows an example of the assistance, guiding the user to the apple section of a supermarket.

Meta has been distributing the previous generation model, Aria Gen 1, to research institutions since 2020, and has released the dataset ' Ego-Exo4D ' collected using Aria Gen 1 to contribute to research on multimodal perception.

For example, a research team at Carnegie Mellon University is using Aria Gen 1 to teach robots to perform everyday behaviors in a research project called ' EgoMimic .'
