Trump, who took office as the President of the United States on January 20, 2025, signed an executive order shortly after taking office entitled 'Abolishing Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Incentives,' repealing all DEI-based support measures promoted by former President Joe Biden.
While several major tech companies, including Google , Amazon , and Meta , are abolishing or scaling back DEI initiatives in response to President Trump's policies, Apple has long opposed the abolition of DEI, and has maintained a firm stance, including calling on shareholders to vote against a proposal from the conservative think tank National Center for Public Policy Research to end DEI initiatives, which is scheduled to be discussed at the shareholders' meeting on February 25, 2025.
