The 'StarFighter 16-inch' is a 16-inch notebook PC whose warranty remains even if you change parts or the OS.



Star Labs, a manufacturer of Linux-based PCs, has released the ' StarFighter 16-inch ' notebook PC. The StarFighter 16-inch's source code, including firmware, is open-source, meaning the warranty remains valid even if parts are replaced or the firmware is modified.

The StarFighter 16-inch is available in three models: 'Standard' with Intel Ultra 5 125H, 'Ultra' with Intel Ultra 9 285H, and 'AMD' with AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS. The Ultra and AMD models feature a 4K monitor with a resolution of 3840 x 2400 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The storage standard is PCIe Gen 4. Memory capacity is 32GB for the Standard model and 64GB for the Ultra and AMD models. The memory is not replaceable.



The keyboard features 3.5W stereo speakers on both sides. The trackpad is not a physically pressable type, but rather a haptic trackpad that uses vibrations to simulate the feeling of pressing down.



Wireless communication is possible via Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The Standard and Ultra models have three USB Type-C ports and three USB-A ports. The AMD model has two USB Type-C ports and three USB Type-A ports.



You can choose from Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, elementary OS, Fedora, and Manjaro. Windows 11 is also available for an additional fee.



The firmware is guaranteed to receive updates for five years. Furthermore, the firmware source code is publicly available in Star Labs' GitHub repository .



The warranty period is one year, and it continues even if parts are replaced or the firmware is changed.
