According to Teikoku Databank's independently calculated 'Curry Rice Price Index,' which indicates the impact on the dinner table, the average price of one serving of curry rice is 362 yen, showing a slight stabilization from its peak at the beginning of the year. Looking at the breakdown, the stabilization of the previously soaring rice price has dragged down the overall price, while the high prices of ingredients such as vegetables and meat continue.

While the sharp price increase, sometimes referred to as the 'curry shock,' has subsided somewhat, prices are still up 6.8% compared to a year ago, indicating that inflation is directly impacting our household budgets. Furthermore, concerns remain that the weaker yen and rising oil prices due to the worsening situation in the Middle East will have a ripple effect on food prices, and there is a possibility that prices will start rising again after the summer. It seems that high prices will continue for some time.
