OpenAI has released three AI programs for real-time conversation, interpretation, and transcription: 'GPT-Realtime-2,' 'GPT-Realtime-Translate,' and 'GPT-Realtime-Whisper.'



OpenAI released three new AI applications on May 7, 2026 : GPT-Realtime-2 , a real-time voice dialogue AI; GPT-Realtime-Translate , a real-time voice translation AI; and GPT-Realtime-Whisper , a real-time transcription AI.

GPT-Realtime-2 is marketed as a speech model with inference capabilities equivalent to the GPT-5 series. It boasts processing speeds sufficient for real-time conversation while enabling natural and complex dialogue. In benchmark tests, it has achieved higher scores than GPT-Realtime-1.5.



The following are

the benchmark results for conversation comprehension performance conducted by the third-party organization Artificial Analysis. GPT-Realtime-2 is inferior to Step-Audio R1.1 and Grok Voice Think Fast 1.0, but it outperforms Gemini 3.1 Fash Live Preview.



GPT-Realtime-Translate is an AI that can translate spoken language into another language in real time. In the following post by OpenAI researcher Jason Liu , you can see it translating English into Japanese in real time.




GPT-Realtime-Whisper is an AI that can transcribe speech simultaneously, and is said to be useful for creating real-time subtitles and meeting minutes.

'GPT-Realtime-2', 'GPT-Realtime-Translate', and 'GPT-Realtime-Whisper' are available via API. The API fee for GPT-Realtime-2 is $32 (approximately 5,020 yen) per 1 million input tokens and $64 (approximately 10,040 yen) per 1 million output tokens. The API fee for GPT-Realtime-Translate is $0.034 (approximately 5.33 yen) per minute, and the API fee for GPT-Realtime-Whisper is $0.017 (approximately 2.67 yen) per minute.
