The rules for the acting and screenwriting categories include content related to generative AI.
In the acting category, it states that 'only roles that are officially credited in the film and clearly demonstrated to have been performed by a human being with their consent will be eligible. Uncredited performances will not be eligible.'
In the screenwriting category, it is stipulated that 'in order to qualify in any category of screenwriting, there must be explicit screenwriting credit in the film's official credits, and the screenplay must have been written by a human.'

These statements are seen as a response to human concerns about the current situation where the wave of AI-generated content is encroaching on the film industry.
In 2025, the existence of Tilly Norwood, the world's first AI actress, drew criticism from Hollywood actors and actors' unions.

The new rules include a direct mention of AI in the Cinematography category. This category states: 'We understand that AI tools are now an integral part of the creative process for many filmmakers. The Cinematography Executive Committee may request disclosure from cinematographers regarding the use of generative AI or other AI tools in the production of their own works that are eligible for the award. The category maintains this policy to promote transparency and education and to ensure that submissions are evaluated fairly and in context.'
Aside from AI-related changes, several revisions have been made, including the ability to be nominated for multiple performances in the same category (such as Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor). The biggest change is the rule of 'only one film per country,' and in addition to the one film per country rule, films that have won the top prize at any of the six major film festivals, such as the Berlin International Film Festival, will now also be eligible for nomination.
