Amazon suggests that restoring AWS in the Middle East could take several months.



In retaliation for attacks by the United States and Israel, Iran launched attacks on U.S.-related facilities in various Middle Eastern countries. Amazon operates three data centers in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, but two of them , ME-CENTRAL-1 (UAE) and ME-SOUTH-1 (Bahrain), were attacked by drones and shut down . Amazon began recovery efforts and notified affected customers that they would be exempted from charges and encouraged them to use other data centers.

Amazon updated its information on April 30, 2026, stating that recovery is expected to take several months. Regarding the UAE and Bahrain regions, Amazon wrote: 'These regions are affected by the Middle East conflict and we are unable to provide stable support for your applications. While some workloads continue to function normally, we strongly recommend migrating all accessible resources to other regions and restoring inaccessible resources from remote backups as soon as possible. Related billing processes are currently suspended while we work to restore normal operations in these AWS regions.'
