With a major upgrade to Copilot, the agent function that allows direct manipulation of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint has been officially implemented.

Word allows you to create documents in various styles starting from a blank page.

In Excel, you can entrust various tasks to Copilot, from data exploration, analysis, and explanation to the creation of charts and graphs.

PowerPoint allows you to update existing slides to reflect the latest issues and data, and to build data using animations.

According to Microsoft, when Copilot was first released, it didn't have the power to interact with applications. Therefore, while Copilot could answer questions, it couldn't directly perform actions. After a year of improvements, Copilot has evolved and can now reliably handle multi-step actions.
During development, the theme was identified as 'creating maximum value not just by suggesting procedures, but by performing tasks such as formatting, structuring, creating visuals, and transforming data,' and adjustments were made to achieve this. In particular, a key feature is the integration of ' Work IQ ,' which customizes Copilot to suit the user and organization, enabling it to remember user instructions and produce high-quality results.
Microsoft described Copilot's ability to perform complex tasks like a human being as 'like magic.'
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella released a video recreating an Excel ad that aired in the 1990s to commemorate the evolution of Copilot.
