However, the recall has sparked criticism over privacy concerns over its policy of recording everything you see and do on your PC, and the UK's data watchdog has also launched an investigation.

The recall was not implemented when Copilot+ PC was released in April 2024, and the release was postponed again to November 2024. Meanwhile, testing of the recall function itself has been ongoing since November 2024.

Then, on April 14, 2025, Windows 11 Insider Build 26100.3902 (KB5055627) with the recall feature was released to the Release Preview Channel of the Windows Insider Program. Then, it was announced that the recall feature will be released for Copilot+ PCs on April 25, 2025.

In addition to the recall feature, Copilot+ PC also includes an improved 'natural language search' that allows you to search in more natural sentences in file explorer and settings apps, and 'Click to Do' that allows you to copy text from images, search on-screen content, and quickly summarize or rewrite on-screen text. The name 'Click to Do' comes from the fact that you can access available actions with the Windows key + click.
