A Czech anti-piracy company has launched 'Online Hunter,' a service that allows users to earn points by reporting pirated websites.

While copyright infringement is relatively easy to detect on large-scale piracy sites, it's much harder to spot when pirated content is shared on social media or within closed communities. To address this problem,

Once you access the Online Hunter website, select the platform on which you discovered copyright infringement.

Enter the URL and submit. Your report will be reviewed and approved, at which point you will earn points. The points you earn will vary depending on the content of your report; newly discovered pirated links will earn you more points, while previously reported pirated links will earn you fewer points.

As of the time of writing, Online Hunter is available in Eastern and Central Europe, but plans are underway to expand to Western Europe in the near future. According to Warezio CEO Jakub Hayek, in Eastern Europe, reporting to authorities tends to be viewed unfavorably as it evokes a surveillance system, so expanding the service to Western Europe could open up avenues for more rights holders to detect copyright infringement.
Points collected through Online Hunter can be exchanged for coupons usable on streaming services such as Netflix, HBO, and Oktagon MMA , a Czech mixed martial arts organization that is an official partner of Warezio. Martin Stesz of Oktagon MMA said, 'The economic damage caused by piracy is becoming increasingly apparent. We previously had our social media team track copyright infringements, but this method has significant limitations in scale and reach, and it has become particularly difficult to investigate semi-closed communities such as Discord. By utilizing crowdsourcing like Online Hunter, we can detect copyright infringement threats that are often missed by automated tools.'
Users who have earned many points are displayed on the Online Hunter leaderboard. As of the time of writing, there are not yet many active users, but it is attracting attention as a tool for identifying small, hard-to-find piracy communities. Also, as of the time of writing, Oktagon MMA is Warezio's only official partner, but Warezio is calling for broader participation in the project so that more rights holders can utilize Online Hunter.
