In 2013, Jolla released the Jolla smartphone, which runs on the Sailfish OS.

At the time, Firefox OS and Tizen, developed by Samsung and others, were challenging iOS and Android's strongholds, but Jolla failed to boost Sailfish OS's market share.
The new Jolla Phone is described by Jolla as an 'independent European DIT (Do It Together) phone.' It runs Sailfish OS 5 and has a 6.36-inch screen. It supports dual nanoSIMs, 12GB of RAM, and storage expandable from 256GB. It runs Android apps that are compatible with Jolla AppSupport.

There is a privacy switch on the side of the device, which allows you to turn on and off selected items such as the microphone, Bluetooth, and apps using the physical switch.

The promotional materials feature the 'The Orange' device, but it also comes in 'Snow White' and 'Kaamos Black.' The back cover and battery are user-replaceable, so you can customize the color to your liking.

The company also emphasizes the longevity of Sailfish OS, saying that it comes with a minimum five-year warranty and no forced obsolescence. It also emphasizes its security, saying, 'A typical Android smartphone sends 1MB of data to Google per day, but Sailfish OS remains silent unless you explicitly allow the connection.'
The price is expected to be between 599 euros (approximately 108,000 yen) and 699 euros (approximately 126,000 yen), but pre-orders will be sold for 499 euros (approximately 90,000 yen). A down payment of 99 euros (approximately 18,000 yen) is required at the time of reservation. The down payment will be refunded at a later date.
While the phone can be used anywhere in the world as long as it supports cellular bands, sales are limited to the EU, the UK, Norway, and Switzerland. Sales in other regions, including the US and Canada, will be decided at an appropriate time, based on demand.
