Google Search AI mode finally displays ads, with ads at the bottom of the page labeled 'Sponsored'

It has been revealed that ads have been added to

the AI mode of Google Search, although Google claims that this is only a test for a small number of users.

Brodie Clark, an independent SEO consultant, reports that ads are being displayed in Google Search AI mode.

The time has come. Google is now showing ads within AI Mode for the first time ever.

Similar to the ads that I had originally spotted showing within AI overviews earlier this year, the placement is at the bottom of the response.

Google Search's AI mode is located on the far left side of the search results page. It is placed to the left of the traditional basic search results 'All,' and it is clear that Google is pushing AI mode to the forefront. AI mode is Google's AI search engine that anyone can access for free.

Google One users can use AI mode to utilize advanced AI models such as Gemini 3 Pro to answer search queries. Google has so far avoided displaying ads in AI mode to make the user experience more engaging.

Ads are now finally being displayed in AI mode. Below are the results of the AI mode, and you can see that ads are displayed below the AI answers. You can also see that the ads are labeled 'Sponsored.'

Google told 9to5Google, 'AI Mode ads, along with ads shown in AI-driven summaries, are part of a test we announced in May . While some users may see ads, Google has assured users that there are currently no new updates to AI Mode regarding the delivery of sponsored ads.' The company explained that AI Mode ads are only being shown to a select few users and have not been officially released to the general public.

After this test, Google has officially implemented advertising in the 'AI summary.'
