'Grok 4.1' is now available, it's free to use with X and has better performance than Gemini 2.5 Pro

xAI, the AI development company led by Elon Musk, released Grok 4.1 on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Grok 4.1 is already available on X (formerly Twitter) and the Grok app.

Grok 4.1 is a model developed using the same large-scale reinforcement learning infrastructure as Grok 4, and is designed to maintain the capabilities of previous models while demonstrating high performance in creative, emotional, and collaborative areas. Grok 4.1 was anonymously tested on X and the Grok app from November 1, 2025 to November 14, 2025, and was rated as superior to previous models in 64.78% of responses.

Grok 4.1 is divided into two models: 'Grok 4.1 (codename: tensor),' which responds immediately, and 'Grok 4.1 Thinking (codename: quasarflux),' which involves long thinking. Both models also participated in

LMArena , which compares the performance of anonymous AIs with humans, with Grok 4.1 Thinking taking first place and Grok 4.1 taking second place, beating Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro.

Grok 4.1 and Grok 4.1 Thinking also ranked in the top two on

EQ-Bench 3 , which measures the empathy and interpersonal skills of AI models.

Another feature of Grok 4.1 is that it reduces the frequency of hallucination, which causes incorrect answers to be output. The graph below compares the performance of Grok 4 Fast (gray) and Grok 4.1 (orange). Grok 4.1 has a lower hallucination rate, and also achieves a better score in the hallucination benchmark,

FActScore .

Grok 4.1 is available to all users, including those with the free plan for X and the Grok app. To use Grok 4.1 on the PC web app version of X, click the Grok button on the left side of the screen, then click the mode selection area at the top of the screen and click 'Grok 4.1.'

Now Grok 4.1 is responsive.

If you click on 'Think more' at the end of the answer, you will receive a more thoughtful answer to the same question.

When I clicked on 'Think Better,' it thought for seven seconds while searching for information online before responding.

In addition, a model card summarizing the safety evaluation of Grok 4.1 can be viewed at the following link.
