Microsoft 365 Copilot is a subscription service for business users that gives subscribers access to AI products such as the information gathering tool Researcher and the agent building tool Copilot Studio.

Microsoft 365 Copilot allows you to choose from multiple AI models to suit your needs. Previously, you could only choose from OpenAI models such as 'GPT-4o,' 'GPT-4.1,' 'GPT-5 Auto,' and 'GPT-5 Reasoning.' With this update, Anthropic's 'Claude Sonnet 4' and 'Claude Opus 4.1' models are now also available.

In Researcher mode, a button to switch the model used to Claude has been added to the top right of the screen, allowing you to use Claude without opening the settings screen.

This update only supports Claude in Researcher and Copilot Studio, but Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that 'we will make Claude available in more products soon.'

Copilot is also available within various apps on the consumer subscription services Microsoft 365 Personal and Microsoft 365 Family, but these subscription services are separate from Microsoft 365 Copilot, and it's unclear whether they plan to support Anthropic's AI models.
