Pixel 10 Pro Fold nearly explodes during YouTuber's durability test, a rare occurrence in 10 years

While tech YouTube channel JerryRigEverything was conducting a durability test on

the Pixel 10 Pro Fold , the device started emitting white smoke. JerryRigEverything has been conducting similar durability tests for 10 years, but this is the first time they've seen something like this.

JerryRigEverything conducted its usual durability test and began bending the Pixel 10 Pro Fold in the opposite direction to normal.

It broke easily with just the strength of my fingers. By comparison,

the iPhone Air didn't break even when I applied nearly 90 kg of force to it with a pulley.

After that, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold started smoking after being folded several times.

There was so much smoke that it set off the fire alarm.

The battery was charred.

JerryRigEverything said, 'My tests are extreme, but I've been running the same tests on every mainstream smartphone for 10 years and I've never seen anything like this happen before. You probably shouldn't put the Pixel 10 Pro Fold open in your back pocket.'

JerryRigEverything has also conducted tests beyond bending. For example, the outer display, made with durable Gorilla Glass Victus 2, was found to only begin to scratch at a Mohs hardness of 6. JerryRigEverything says this is the typical level seen with Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The inner display is not made of Gorilla Glass Victus 2, but rather of ultra-thin glass and two layers of impact-resistant film. This has a Mohs hardness of 2, which means it's starting to scratch, but JerryRigEverything defends it, saying, 'This is the only way to make it flexible enough to bend.'

The frame will be scratched with a utility knife.

Same goes for the camera bump.

The back and 'G' logo were not scratched.

Tests have also been conducted in which sand is poured into the hinges.

Sand seems to have gotten inside the hinge, and even after brushing it off, there was still a scraping noise every time I folded the phone. JerryRigEverything pointed out, 'Samsung's foldable phones have the same problem, but they never claim to be 'dustproof.' The Pixel 10 Pro Fold's screen certainly seems dustproof, but the hinge definitely isn't.' The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance.

JerryRigEverything said, 'It goes without saying, but the Pixel 10 Pro Fold performed miserably in my durability tests.'
