The third-generation humanoid robot 'Figure 03' has been released, with a demo video showing it can properly perform various household chores

Robotics developer Figure has announced its third-generation humanoid robot, the Figure 03. Designed for mass production and intended for home use, the Figure 03 is equipped with the

Figure 03 tidies up a desk. Designed for high-frequency visuomotor control, Figure 03's vision system doubles the camera frame rate and reduces latency by one-quarter compared to the previous generation. It also increases the field of view per camera by 60 percent, enabling intelligent navigation and precise operation in complex, cluttered spaces.

Popcorn scattered on a desk is being removed onto a raised plate. The Figure 03's body is made of multi-density foam to prevent pinching, and is covered in soft fabric instead of hard machined parts.

The robot then gently picks up the mug and carries it to the kitchen sink, where the sensor on its fingertip can detect a tiny pressure of just 3 grams, enough to even sense the weight of a paper clip placed on its finger.

At the sink, the robot uses its mechanical hands to operate the faucet like a human, adjusting the water flow and washing dishes. The hands are equipped with wide-field, low-latency cameras that provide visual feedback during grasping movements, allowing the robot to maintain visual awareness even when the main camera is occluded.

The washed dishes go into the dish dryer. Although it moves a little slowly, its movements are almost the same as a human's.
Lift the full laundry basket, open the lid of the washing machine, and load the laundry. The Figure 03 is 9% lighter and has a significantly smaller volume than the Figure 02, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces.

The robot then searches for and retrieves detergent from a shelf next to the washing machine. Figure 03's more adaptable fingertips have an expanded contact area, allowing it to more stably grasp objects of various shapes and sizes.

The robot then puts the extracted detergent into the detergent compartment of the washing machine. The robot operates the washing machine by pressing buttons with its fingers, just like a human would.

Although it is done slowly, you can see that it is folded carefully.

To facilitate natural communication with humans, Figure 03 boasts improved real-time speech synthesis (Speech to Speech) performance. Compared to Figure 02, the speaker is twice as large, resulting in nearly four times the speech output. The microphone position has also been repositioned, resulting in improved performance and clarity, according to Figure.

The Figure 03 is designed as a 'fully autonomous wireless system' and can operate autonomously even when not connected to a power source. It also supports wireless inductive charging, and the charging coil at the base of the Figure 03 allows charging at 2kW simply by placing your foot on the wireless stand.

The Figure 03 can operate twice as fast as the previous generation thanks to improved torque density of the actuator. 'The biggest benefit of this is that it allows for quicker lifting and lowering of loads,' Figure says.

Figure is building a dedicated manufacturing facility, BotQ, which it says will be able to initially produce up to 12,000 humanoids per year, with a goal of producing a total of 100,000 over the next four years.
