According to an announcement by the Asahi Group, a cyberattack caused a system failure, halting 'order and shipping operations at domestic group companies' and 'call center operations such as customer service.' The impact of this system failure was limited to Japan, and at the time of writing, no leaks of personal information or customer data have been confirmed.
According to the Financial Times, the majority of domestic factories have been forced to suspend operations due to the cyberattack. Lawson, a major convenience store chain, told the Financial Times, 'Some products may be out of stock from tomorrow (October 3, 2025) onwards.' Furthermore, an executive at another major retailer said, 'We believe (Asahi Group products) will run out soon. Asahi Super Dry will sell out in two to three days.
