Apple announced its own personal AI, ' Apple Intelligence ,' at WWDC24 in June 2024. One of the highlights of Apple Intelligence is an improved version of Siri called 'Advanced Siri' or ' LLM Siri .' However, even before its release, there were reports of development delays for this improved version of Siri, and it was also pointed out that it sometimes gave more incorrect answers than the previous Siri.

Regarding the delay in the development of an improved Siri, a former Apple employee testified that 'a bug occurred when integrating existing machine learning technology with LLM.' Therefore, in order to realize an improved Siri, Apple is reportedly considering not only adopting its own LLM, but also adopting LLMs developed by AI market pioneers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, known for his leaks of Apple-related information, Apple has developed a standalone app called 'Veritas' similar to ChatGPT to test an improved version of Siri.
Veritas was developed for internal use by employees in Apple's AI division, but at the time of writing, Apple does not appear to have any plans to release the app. While Apple has released its own personal AI, Apple Intelligence, it is integrated with the OS and apps and cannot be used as a standalone app. Apple Intelligence combines Apple's own technology with AI technology from partner companies.
Garman also said Veritas is also using the company to test Linwood, a new system Apple is developing that will serve as the foundation for a new and improved version of Siri. Linwood is built on a combination of Apple's own LLM and third-party LLMs.

Apple is also reportedly using Veritas to test features that will be integrated into the improved Siri it is developing. These include AI-powered searches of users' personal information, from their music library to their emails, and AI-powered photo editing. Apple is also considering whether these features should be offered to users in the form of an AI chatbot.
Since Apple only released the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, Garman predicts that the next major smartphone release will be an improved Siri, which is scheduled for release in March 2026.
