Apple's official 'iPhone Air repair manual' released

In 2021, Apple announced its '

Self-Service Repair Program ,' which allows users to repair their iPhones themselves. The program launched in April 2022, and the company has been publishing repair manuals for new models and selling repair parts . Apple also released repair manuals for the iPhone 17 series and iPhone Air, which were just released in September 2025.

The iPhone Air repair manual is below. It was released on September 19, 2025, the same day the iPhone Air was released. While the repair manual is also available on the Japanese Apple support page, at the time of writing, only the untranslated English manual is available.

If the repair manual overlaps with previous versions of the iPhone, it links to the existing manual. For example, in the iPhone Air repair manual, all of the troubleshooting sections were linked to the existing manual.

However, the actual repair procedures and tools were newly created for the iPhone Air. For example, the battery replacement page includes detailed instructions for removing the battery from the case. The instructions, accompanied by photos, explain that to remove the battery from the case, you connect the black connector (where the red clip is connected) and the ground screw (where the black clip is connected) with a 9V battery clip and apply electricity for about 1 minute and 30 seconds to remove the adhesive. It should be noted that the adhesive removal time will increase with age.

Repair manuals for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, which were released at the same time as the iPhone Air, have also been made public.
