Apple finally starts offering genuine parts and manuals for iPad repairs, but Japan is not eligible and genuine parts cannot be purchased

Apple launched the

Self Service Repair program in 2022 to sell repair manuals and parts for its own devices, and is gradually expanding the range of devices covered. On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, it was announced that Apple will begin selling repair manuals and parts for iPads through self-service repairs.

In addition, repair tools such as screwdrivers are sold, repair manuals are provided, and users can repair their own Apple devices in countries where self-service repairs are available.

The range of devices eligible for self-service repairs has been expanding since the program began in 2022, and iPhones, Macs, and other devices have already been repaired. Apple has now announced that the iPad series will also be included in the list of devices eligible for self-service repairs.

Of the iPad series, only the non-branded iPad

models equipped with the A16 chip released in March 2025 are eligible.

The iPad mini

model covered is equipped with the A17 Pro chip, released in October 2024.

For iPad Air, the rebate applies to the 11-inch model with the M2 chip and the 13-inch model with the M2 chip that were released in May 2024, as well as the 11-inch model with the M3 chip and the 13-inch model with the M3 chip that were released in March 2025.

The iPad Pro models covered include

the 11-inch model with M4 chip and the 13-inch model with M4 chip , which were released in May 2024.

Self-service repairs are available in 33 countries, including the United States and Europe, but Japan is not included at the time of writing. Canada is scheduled to be added to the list of eligible countries in the summer of 2025, so there is a possibility that Japan will be added to the list of eligible countries at some point.
