Illustration and Manga Creation Club 'Let's all doodle illustrations at the same time' CAPASS Day 2025 Summer After-Report

What was the event like at the illustration and manga creation club event 'Let's all draw illustrations at the same time!' held at Ibaraki City's 'Onikuru' from 14:00 on Saturday, August 9, 2025? The after-report is below.

First, the preparations before the event. The editor-in-chief of GIGAZINE carried the luggage up to the 7th floor of Onikuru and carried out the final layout check in the afternoon of Wednesday, August 6th. We decided to arrange the seats roughly like this. We also measured the Wi-Fi speed.

This is a mini PC for projecting the IT literacy, internet literacy, and AI literacy presentations for parents on the day, as well as everyone simultaneously drawing illustrations onto the screen, and a switcher for switching between each screen. By displaying everyone's drawing in real time as a small picture-in-picture in the bottom right of the presentation screen, parents can keep an eye on everyone's status while watching the presentation.

So the setup practice is complete.

The iPad Pro is also fully prepared, and the content you type will be synchronized and displayed in the same way all at once.

For this drawing chat, we used the iOS app ' MagicalDraw .' There is also an Android app , both of which are free. The biggest advantage of using it is that you can create rooms with limited participants and password protection. It has an incredible level of functionality, including layers, pen pressure detection, and the ability to rewind what you've drawn, automatically record by time, and output time-lapse videos. It's no exaggeration to say that it's the best. It's simply amazing.

And on the day

Everyone from elementary school students to junior high school students can scratch together like this!

Scratching with great force

It detects pen pressure properly, so you can draw smoothly

There were also cases where people brought in various reference images for drawing.

I've zoomed out and am checking the whole canvas. While I'm watching like this, everyone's writing is reflected in real time, which is quite interesting.

You can zoom in and out freely, so it's common to zoom in and draw, then return to normal size later to check the whole picture... and repeat this process.

It can also be rotated, so you can turn it to an angle that is easy for you to draw at and then start scratching.

As you can see, it looks pretty good.

In normal drawing, each person draws what they like individually, which is a solo activity, but this time, it's like 'everyone scribbling on a blackboard' but in the form of a drawing chat. The best part is that everyone can draw on the same canvas and communicate in real time.

After the event, recharge like this

At first, I connected each charging port to a power strip, but using six devices at the same time would take up six outlets and take up a lot of space, so I decided to use

the Anker Prime Charger to compact everything. It's also reassuring to be able to see in real time how many watts each port is charging at.

So, this is the illustration we all ended up drawing together. It's amazing. Everyone was so tough, drawing for almost two hours straight. Their level of concentration was incredible. Everyone said, 'It was so much fun, I want to do it again.' It's amazing how naturally people become closer and make more friends by chatting and drawing together.

It looks like this in a time-lapse video. When you check it later, you can see, 'Oh, that's what I was drawing at that time,' which is very interesting, and the people who were drawing it can also realize, 'So that's what everyone else was drawing at that time.' By sharing not only the finished illustration but also the video of the progress, you can show off to friends later.

You can also replay the entire process from start to finish at speeds ranging from 1x to 100x. The replayed content can be downloaded as a file and played back whenever you like! Unlike time-lapse videos, the replay also displays the names of the artists in speech bubbles, and even recreates the chat content. It completely relives the fun time everyone had drawing together on that day, making for a very valuable re-experience.

In addition, this event will continue to be held as part of Ibaraki Elementary School's 'After-School Children's Classes' held on Wednesdays and Saturdays from January 2026.

And in the 'Illustration and Manga Creation Club' hosted by the editor-in-chief of GIGAZINE, everyone draws together like this, and as you can see, they make full use of various IT devices and apps, so it's a system that naturally improves IT literacy, internet literacy, and AI literacy. They mainly meet in various locations in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, and activities are mainly held on weekdays after school. The target ages are elementary, junior high, and high school students. Participation is free, there is no need to bring anything, and there is no parental duty, so there is no need for transportation. It's just like a school club activity.
