◆ Recommended article grouping
Recommended articles on the new tab page will now be grouped by topic, such as sports, food, and entertainment. This makes recommended articles more organized and easier to view. You can also follow topics that interest you or block topics you don't want to see, giving you more control over the articles you see when you open a new tab. Recommended article grouping will be rolled out gradually and is currently available to US users only.

◆ Link preview function
You can now preview a link before clicking it by long-pressing it (or right-clicking and selecting 'Preview Link'). You can also adjust the AI-generated preview to include key points. To protect privacy, this feature runs entirely on-device. This feature is being rolled out gradually, and to ensure quality and performance, it is currently only available to US users with devices with more than 3GB of RAM.

◆ Support for exception lists in ETP strict mode
In Strict Mode, Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) has sometimes blocked trackers, impairing site functionality. To address this issue, we now support a flexible exception list . The exception list is divided into core functionality and additional convenience features, allowing users to continue using the site as they always have while still enjoying privacy protections.

◆Other updates
Clicking on persistent notifications when closing or restarting the browser will now open a more appropriate related page instead of opening the site's main page (Windows only)
- Show the active tab even when the tab group is collapsed
- You can now remove extensions directly from the sidebar by right-clicking on the extension icon and selecting 'Remove from Sidebar.'
- Improved behavior so that the scroll speed of the bookmark dialog does not exceed the component area.
- Improved drag and drop behavior for BLOB images.

Firefox 142 also includes nine security bug fixes .

The next major version, Firefox 143, is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 local time.
