Samsung announces the thin and lightweight folding smartphones 'Galaxy Fold 7' and 'Galaxy Flip 7' as well as the thinnest smartwatch in the series, 'Galaxy Watch 8 | 8 Classic'



At its new product launch event, Galaxy Unpacked July 2025, Samsung unveiled the foldable smartphones Galaxy Fold 7 and Galaxy Flip 7, as well as the Galaxy Watch 8 | 8 Classic and Watch Ultra (2025), which are the thinnest in the series' history.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is a foldable smartphone designed for users who want the ease of use and portability of a traditional smartphone combined with the productivity of a large screen in a single smartphone. It is the thinnest and lightest folding smartphone ever to be released in Japan.

The main display is approximately 8 inches, 11% larger than the previous model, making it the largest ever for a Galaxy smartphone.

In addition, the phone is the first to feature a 200MP camera, the same as the Galaxy Ultra flagship model, in a folding smartphone. The combination of the camera and processing power is said to enable clear and beautiful photography.



The SIM-free model will be available for pre-order from Thursday, July 17, 2025, with the 256GB storage model costing 265,750 yen (including tax), the 512GB model costing 283,750 yen (including tax), and the 1TB model costing 329,320 yen (including tax). It will be released on Friday, August 1.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7
While the Galaxy Z Fold7 is a horizontally folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip7 is a vertically folding smartphone.



The main display is a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. Meanwhile, the cover screen with the rear camera is a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover screen, the largest in the Galaxy Z Flip series. Both the main display and the cover screen have a maximum brightness of 2600 nits and a refresh rate of 120Hz, allowing for smoother scrolling, streaming, and gameplay. There is also a vision booster that improves visibility outdoors, so you can use it comfortably anywhere.

It weighs about 188g and is about 13.7mm thick when folded, making it the thinnest in the Galaxy Z Flip series. On the other hand, the battery capacity is about 4300mAh, the largest in the series' history, and it can play videos for up to 31 hours on a single charge.

The rear camera is equipped with two lenses: a wide-angle lens with approximately 50 million pixels and an ultra-wide-angle lens with approximately 12 million pixels. Using the 'real-time filter', you can preview the effect before shooting with the flip camera and adjust it to the ideal finish. In addition, the new Zoom Slider allows you to zoom in and out smoothly with a swipe operation, making it easy to take beautiful full-body coordination shots and large group selfies.



Galaxy Flip7 will be available for pre-order on Thursday, July 17, 2025, and will be released on Friday, August 1. The 256GB storage model will cost 164,800 yen (including tax). The 512GB model will cost 182,900 yen (including tax).

Three new products have been announced for the Galaxy Watch smartwatch series.

The Galaxy Watch8│Watch8 Classic has a completely redesigned internal structure, improving the efficiency of component mounting by about 30%, making it about 11% thinner than previous models. In addition, a new dynamic lug system has been adopted that naturally fits the movement of the wrist when worn, improving comfort and stability, and improving health tracking accuracy.



The display's brightness has increased by 50% to a maximum of 3,000 nits, improving visibility even in strong sunlight outdoors. Dual GPS has been installed to improve the accuracy of location information obtained, and the device is equipped with Samsung's most powerful 3nm processor, which combines high processing speed with optimized power efficiency.



Equipped with Wear OS 6 and Gemini, you can operate apps hands-free with natural calls. In addition, the new One UI 8 Watch has been adopted to realize an interface optimized for the size and shape of the watch face. All three new Galaxy Watch models will be available for pre-order from Thursday, July 17, 2025, with release scheduled for early August or later.

The price of the Galaxy Watch8 44mm model is 62,900 yen (tax included), and the 40mm model is 57,900 yen (tax included). It comes in two colors: silver and graphite.



The Galaxy Watch8 Classic is available in a 46mm model only, priced at 82,900 yen (tax included). It comes in two colors: white and black.



The Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) is only available in a 47mm model, priced at 126,940 yen (tax included). The colors are the new Titanium Blue, Titanium Gray, Titanium White, and Titanium Silver.
