Twitter founder Jack Dorsey is developing a chat app called 'bitchat' that uses Bluetooth for P2P communication, and can communicate without creating an account and connecting to Wi-Fi or mobile lines.

Jack Dorsey, the famous founder of Twitter, has revealed that he is developing a Bluetooth-based P2P chat app called ' BitChat .' At the time of writing, a development version for iPhone is available.

Bitchat is a chat app that connects devices to each other via Bluetooth to create a mesh network. Communication is via Bluetooth, so you can chat without connecting to a mobile line or Wi-Fi. A screenshot of Bitchat looks like this.

There is no need to register an account or verify your phone number when using bitchat. It also implements end-to-end encryption. Furthermore, it is possible to communicate with people up to 300 meters away using Bluetooth relay connections.

At the time of writing, bitchat is still in development and is distributed via TestFlight, a beta testing platform for iOS apps.

In addition, the bitchat source code and protocol are available in the following GitHub repository. The protocol is designed to be platform independent, so developers can build their own Android apps. The license is in the public domain .
