WordPress is one of the content management systems (CMS) used by websites around the world. The WordPress ecosystem is centralized and strongly dependent on the WordPress.org official site, and it has been said that the supply chain is vulnerable.
FAIR Package Manager is a project aimed at improving the stability of open source CMS, particularly WordPress. By providing neutral package management that is not dependent on any particular vendor, it aims to become an important common infrastructure that can meet the needs of the new era, such as content, e-commerce, and AI.
The main features and benefits of the FAIR Package Manager are that it enables collaboration across the ecosystem, eliminating the need to rely on a single source for core updates, plugins, themes, translations, etc. Additionally, it enhances GDPR compliance by significantly reducing automatic browser data transmission to
It also unifies a fragmented ecosystem by bringing together plugins from any source, not just a centralized one, and strengthens supply chain security by enabling improved encryption security measures and reliance on salt from trusted sources.

The FAIR Package Manager will be managed by the Linux Foundation, providing neutral and transparent governance. The Technical Steering Committee is co-chaired by Carrie Dills, Micah Epstein, and Ryan McCue, who is known for developing the WordPress REST API .
'The FAIR Package Manager project is a departure from traditional centralized approaches and a decentralized solution that puts the community first,' said McCullough.
'Developers can now choose from multiple trusted sources for their supply chain needs, rather than relying on a central location, spurring innovation and protecting business continuity,' the Linux Foundation said.
The core shared package repository of FAIR Package Manager is publicly available and ready to accept contributions from developers and others.
