Perplexity launches Perplexity Labs, a new feature that lets developers perform advanced tasks like automated app development and automated report generation simply by entering prompts

On May 30, 2025, Perplexity announced the launch of Perplexity Labs. Perplexity Labs is perfect for more complex tasks, and it will be a service that puts your entire team at your disposal. It will be able to create everything from analytical reports and presentations to dynamic dashboards.




The Perplexity development team explains, 'Using Perplexity is like having a dedicated automated response machine available 24/7. Using Perplexity Labs is like forming a team. Perplexity Lab is available to anyone who wants to bring their ideas to life.'

Perplexity Lab can create anything from reports and spreadsheets to dashboards and simple web apps. The content it generates is based on extensive research and analysis, and Perplexity Lab often takes 10+ minutes of self-supervised work to transform an idea into a deliverable, using deep web browsing, code execution, and the creation of graphs and images.

In addition, Perplexity Lab can be selected by Perplexity Pro users from the mode selection in the input bar of the web version, iOS version, and Android version of Perplexity. It is already available on the web version, iOS version, and Android version, but the Mac version and Windows version will be available soon, and the time when Perplexity Lab will be available is undecided.



Perplexity describes Perplexity Labs as 'a place to help you complete any project, professional or personal. From creating a marketing campaign, to analyzing your business finances, to planning your menu for the week, Perplexity Labs is the place to bring your biggest ideas to life.'

Perplexity Labs writes and runs code to handle tasks such as structuring data, applying mathematical formulas, and creating graphs, documents, and spreadsheets.



All files created during a workflow (generated charts, images, CSV files, code files, etc.) are organized in the Assets tab. From there, you can easily view and download everything you need.



Additionally, Perplexity Labs allows you to develop and deploy simple, interactive web apps directly within your project's 'Apps' tab, allowing you to create basic dashboards, slideshows, and websites without the need for external development tools.



Regarding the difference between Perplexity Labs and Deep Research , Perplexity explained, 'Deep Research is the fastest way to get comprehensive answers to detailed questions, typically taking 3-4 minutes. Perplexity Labs, on the other hand, takes longer (10 minutes or more) and is designed to allow you to take advantage of additional tools such as advanced file generation and mini-app creation.'

@cneuralnetwork , who had the opportunity to try out Perplexity Labs before the official release, praised Perplexity Labs, saying, 'With just one prompt, I was able to create this beautiful app that explores how much bias there is in education with the help of NLP (natural language processing). I created a confusion matrix and conducted extensive EDA ( exploratory data analysis ) on the topic.'




Another user, @hamptonism , created a dashboard by typing, 'I'm going to create an interactive 'World Economic Indicators Tracker' dashboard that will monitor key economic indicators from around the world and provide insights into global market trends and their potential impact on user-defined portfolios.'
