To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Google Photos, the image editing function has been revamped and an album sharing QR code issuing function has been added, and the total number of images and videos on Google Photos exceeds 9 trillion

Google's photo management service, Google Photos, will celebrate its 10th anniversary on May 28, 2025. Several new features have been announced to mark the 10th anniversary.

According to Google, at the time of writing, the total number of images and videos stored in Google Photos is over 9 trillion, the number of monthly users is over 1.5 billion, the number of searches per month is 370 million, and the number of photo edits per month is 210 million.
To coincide with its 10th anniversary, Google Photos also announced a revamp of its image editing tools, which consolidate all the editing tools in one place for easier operation.

A new feature will also be added that suggests the appropriate editing tool just by tracing and surrounding the object to be edited. Here's how to use it: First, roughly trace and surround the part of the image you want to edit.

The area to be edited will then be automatically and neatly selected, and a row of editing tool launch buttons will appear on the screen.

When you tap each editing tool, a screen will appear allowing you to adjust the strength of the effect, as shown below.

In addition, a new feature has been added to Google Photos' shared albums : the ability to issue QR codes that allow users to access albums.
