In the interview, CEO Pichai emphasized that AI has the potential to bring about a transformation even bigger than the Internet, and said that we are now in a new phase of the AI platform shift. In this new phase, more people will be able to participate in product development using AI, and AI will impact all industries and create new businesses and product categories that have never existed before.
Regarding the impact on search and the web, Pichai explained that Google's new AI mode feature, announced in May 2025, will generate customized search result pages that include interactive charts, etc. He also revealed that these AI mode features are planned to be gradually integrated into the core search experience.

Pichai claims that 'the web is still expanding, and Google is sending more traffic to more websites than ever before,' but he has also received harsh criticism from media organizations such as the American Press Association, which say that AI mode is 'stealing' content that is being used unfairly. In response, Pichai emphasized that AI mode will also clearly state sources and prioritize sending traffic to websites.
Pichai also said, 'Just as restaurants now offer takeout and delivery in addition to dine-in services, web services may combine traditional interfaces for humans with efficient information channels for AI agents. Some companies may even specialize in use via agents.' He mentioned the possibility that in the future the web will become a kind of database, with AI agents exchanging information without human intervention.
Regarding the return on the company's huge investment in AI, Pichai emphasized the importance of a long-term perspective, citing the example of Gmail evolving into Google Workspace and Google Cloud. He said that AI, as a horizontal technology, will affect all businesses and create value in all areas, including search, YouTube, Google Cloud, and Android.
Regarding AI hardware, he said he believes AI-powered AR glasses could play a key role in fully realizing the platform shift. Google announced in May 2025 that it was developing Android XR-compatible smart glasses with XREAL and Samsung.

Pichai also cautioned that while millions of people could be using AR glasses by 2026, it's still unclear whether they will become a mainstream product like the iPhone.
And when asked by the interviewer about the possibility of changing search rankings or AI mode answers to favor former President Trump, CEO Pichai clearly denied this.
Pichai said, 'Our ranking methodology is sacrosanct. We've been doing this for over 25 years,' emphasizing that no one at Google can influence the ranking algorithm. He also stated that the AI mode answers will not be adjusted in response to political pressure. He also explained that the credibility of certain sources, such as the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), is assessed comprehensively based on a number of signals, rather than directly evaluating individual pages.
Finally, CEO Pichai pointed to integration with robotics as an indicator of the next platform shift. Just as AlphaGo surpassed humans in a short time, he predicted that the next big turning point will be when AI's self-improvement capabilities are combined with robotics in the physical world.
