I tried playing 'Doga Battler', a game where characters generated from YouTube URLs fight each other in a heated battle.

'

Barcode Battler, ' an electronic game machine released by Epoch in 1991, is a toy that allows you to read barcodes on various products to automatically generate character stats and have them battle. ' Doga Battler ' is a web game that pays homage to Barcode Battler, and allows you to battle characters generated from YouTube URLs.

When you access Dogabatler, it looks like this. You need to prepare two URLs of videos to be fought.

First, player 1 is in the video below.

A movie of a piggy bank with a funny face 'FACE BANK' in action - YouTube

And here is player number two:

We experienced the acceleration force of 3.75G of Fuji-Q Highland's 'Do-Dodonpa' which reaches 180km/h in 1.56 seconds at a press test drive event - YouTube

Enter the URL in the input field and click 'Prepare for match.'

Then, two characters were generated. On the left is Player 1, and on the right is Player 2. Player 1 only has 'Sloth' in his normal attacks, but Player 2 has more than twice the maximum HP of Player 1, and all of his offensive normal skills have the passive 'Instant Death Attack'. This difference in ability seems like the outcome is already decided before the fight even begins. Press 'Start Match' to begin the match.

You can see the match in the video below.

Once the match begins, players will take turns playing offense and defense. The battle log is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

I wondered what kind of skill 'Sloth' was, and it turned out to be an incredibly negative skill that causes the user to skip attacks with a certain probability.

On the other hand, an instant death attack has a certain probability of dealing 9999 damage to the opponent.

Naturally, Player 1 died instantly. The match ended the moment the passive skill was activated, just as expected. From the result screen, you can choose to 'return to top' or 'rematch.' This time, I chose 'return to top.'

YouTube URLs are given a unique 11-character parameter consisting of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers after '?v='. Doga Battler generates characters from these unique parameters, so you can generate characters from non-existent video URLs by entering any string you like here. This time, we'll be pitting a character generated from the string 'GIGAZINE123' against the opponent we defeated in the previous match.

The character (left) generated from 'GIGAZINE123' looks like this. Since there is no video, the thumbnail says 'This video cannot be generated.' Click 'Start battle.'

I tried battling a strong character born by chance with 'Doga Battler', which battles with YouTube URLs, with a non-existent URL - YouTube

The character in 'GIGAZINE123' has a passive skill of instant death attack for normal attacks, and can use 'great recovery' to recover HP. It is quite advantageous to recover damage received from the opponent.

Furthermore, his STR (strength), which is likely directly related to his attack power, is 98, which is almost twice as much as his opponent's. This means that he deals almost twice as much damage, so he has plenty of potential to turn around the difference in physical strength.

However, because the opponent's instant death attack was activated, 'GIGAZINE123' lost.

Doga Battler allows you to battle various video URLs, so you can test which video is the strongest. You can also convert non-existent character strings into characters, so you can have fun searching for your own strongest URL.
