AnimeJapan 2025 ,' with Yamaguchi Kappei, who plays Saotome Ranma, Hidaka Noriko, who plays Tendo Akane, and Sakuma Rei, who plays Shampoo, engaging in a talk covering the previous series, which aired from 1989, and the current series, which aired in 2024.

At the event, there was a section where questions that had been collected in advance through X were answered.

When asked 'What part of the character did you like again?' Hidaka said that he realised Akane's kindness. Yamaguchi also revealed that he had made a discovery that he had not made in the previous work, and that he and Megumi Hayashibara, who plays Ranma, had been talking about how 'Ranma fell in love with Akane first.' Sakuma, who plays Shampoo, who comes between the two, mentioned how 'she never gives up even though she is exposed to the overflowing love between the two (Ranma and Akane),' to which Hidaka agreed, saying, 'She has a mentality of steel.'

When asked what she valued in acting, Yamaguchi, whose debut work was the previous work, replied, 'I've become able to value my acting more (compared to the previous work),' and 'I've become able to deliver famous lines without straining myself.' Sakuma said that Shampoo's drawing itself is very cute, and that she thinks anyone can play her, so she wants to 'play her without relying on the cuteness of the drawing, so that I can bring out her charm even more by voicing her.' Hidaka said that she values the distance and relationship between her and her father, saying, 'I'm strong with my father, but I depend on Kasumi because she's like a mother, and I'm like a friend with Nabiki.' She said, 'I had a bad impression of Ranma from the first meeting, but I'm interested in him, and Shampoo has a kindness that makes it hard to treat her coldly.'

As the current work 'Ranma 1/2' is the final episode of the first season and the decision to produce a second season has been announced, the question 'What is your favorite episode that has not yet been animated?' In response to this question, Yamaguchi mentioned an episode about Shinnosuke, who met Akane when he was a child, and said, 'At the end, Ranma recites a strange poem, so I would like to try that this time.'

Sakuma-san requested to see the two interact in the episode 'Inverted Jewel,' in which Shampoo is the main character, as well as the episode 'Revenge Doll,' in which Akane turns into a doll. Hidaka-san loves Gosunkugi, and said, 'I like the line 'I'm Akane!' when Gosunkugi-kun, who is dressed as Akane, says.' When Hidaka-san heard the lines spoken by Gosunkugi-san, played by Futamata Kazunari-san in the previous work, she thought, 'So this is how Futamata-san sees me (lol).'

As the series has many attractive characters, the question 'Is there any other character you would like to play?' was asked, to which Yamaguchi replied, 'One day I would like to play a small old man character like Happosai, who appears in Rumiko-sensei's works.' Based on Yamaguchi's answer, Hidaka said, 'I want to say Cologne... but Shampoo, which is straightforward about love,' and showed off his own version of Shampoo, saying, 'I want to say, 'I'm going to kill you, Ranma.'' He even went so far as to show us his own version of Shampoo, saying, 'I can't throw away the Black Rose Short Sword either. I'd say, 'Ranma-sama!' (laughs).' Sakuma mentioned Cologne, saying, 'I never thought I'd get to play Shampoo again.'

Perhaps because the cast is familiar with each other, there seem to have been no major mishaps at the recording studio. However, a heartwarming episode was revealed in which Yamaguchi and Hayashibara watched with grins on their faces as Hidaka recorded her lines, and she was disappointed when she got a NG on a line that required her to act Akane cutely, but when she tried again and got the OK, the two of them gave a thumbs up.

Various events have been prepared for the second season, including the collaboration cafe 'Nekohanten' which is touring the country, and the Animate Fair, where a large number of goods featuring newly drawn illustrations will be sold in advance in April 2025.
