These fake RTX 5090 listings aren't 'anti-bot' — they're scams | Digital Trends
Here are the results of searching for 'RTX 5090' on eBay. There are many listings.

However, some listings have the phrase 'Read The Description.'

When I actually looked at the product description, I saw the following warnings: 'Keep in mind you are getting a picture of the RTX 5090 found the edition we are trying to combat the bots.' 'This is a picture of RTX 5090 buy it at your own risk we do not refund nor except return returns.'

According to PCWorld, some malicious users are using bots on eBay to buy products cheaply and sell them to other users at higher prices. Some sellers claim that selling photos and empty boxes as a way to 'counter bots' is part of a 'consumer protection campaign' to make bot users waste money.
However, these justifications are merely excuses to justify the fraud. PCWorld points out that these sellers are selling a series of fraudulent products on accounts that they have built up reputations on eBay in advance, giving users a sense of security and allowing unsuspecting customers to make purchases without carefully reading the product descriptions.
PCWorld also notes that users who use bots to buy in-demand electronics at low prices do so on retail sites, not on sites like eBay, where the latter is used solely for resale. Therefore, PCWorld points out that these 'anti-bot' listings are no doubt intended to deceive human buyers.
eBay is actively removing these types of fraudulent listings. PCWorld warned, 'Scams are rampant on the Internet, and the higher the demand for a product, the more scams there are. Please be careful when purchasing products, and avoid secondary sales sites like eBay if possible.'
