'Gemini,' developed by Google DeepMind, combines the technology of Google DeepMind's 'AlphaGo' and its advanced 'AlphaGo Zero' with a large-scale language model. It is trained on massive amounts of data obtained from Google services such as Google Search, YouTube, Google Books, and Google Scholar, and is a next-generation multimodal AI that can handle multiple data types such as text, audio, images, and video.

Cissy Zhao, who is responsible for Google's chatbot AI Bard and Google Assistant, commented on Gemini, 'For example, if I want to bake a cake, Gemini will draw three pictures of how to make a three-layer cake. It's not just a picture on the internet. It's a conversation with a human, using not only text but also images.' This shows how high Gemini's performance is.

Gemini itself was revealed by CEO Pichai during the keynote speech at Google I/O 2023 held in May 2023. CEO Pichai stated, 'Gemini is highly efficient in integrating tools and APIs and is built to deliver innovations like memory and planning.'

In November 2023, Pichai commented, 'We are focused on releasing Gemini as soon as possible and are in the process of completing the major and largest version of Gemini.' Google also stated, 'Our Gemini meets or exceeds the standards of OpenAI's GPT-4 in several respects.'

However, The Information reports that CEO Pichai has ordered the postponement of the launch event, which was scheduled for early December 2023 in California, New York, and Washington. The event was aimed at politicians and policymakers, but Pichai decided to postpone the release, saying, 'We found that the AI was unable to reliably process some non-English queries.'

Interesting Engineering, an IT news site, said, 'The release of Gemini may be one of the most important product releases in Google's history. Gemini will create a new internet that shifts from traditional search and the World Wide Web to chatbot-based technology, and it also means that Google could rival or even surpass OpenAI.'
