Parent Michelle Diaz expressed outrage, saying her twin fourth-graders were traumatized by the film. 'We feel completely abandoned by the school,' she said. 'Some of the kids were saying, 'Stop the movie,' and 'I don't want to watch this,' but the teacher didn't stop the movie.'
According to Diaz, it was the children who chose 'Pooh: The Devil's Bear' as the work to watch, but Diaz points out that teachers should have carefully examined the content of the film and been careful not to broadcast inappropriate works.
'Winnie the Pooh' is rated 'NR (Not Rated)' and is not R-rated, but this simply means that it has not been reviewed and does not mean that it is okay for children to watch.
Vera Hirsch, the school's principal, told American media outlet CBS News, 'We have been made aware that a segment from a horror film was screened to fourth graders at our school on October 2, 2023. Our administration promptly discussed this matter directly with the teacher and took appropriate action to protect the safety and well-being of our students. We are actively monitoring our students and our mental health counselors and principal have already met with the child who raised the issue.'
