According to Microsoft, 10 billion search queries are performed every day, and half of those queries are returned unanswered. This shows that people are using search to do things that were not originally intended. Existing search engines are great for finding specific websites, but they fall short when it comes to answering more complex questions and tasks.

Therefore, Microsoft has released the new Bing and Edge apps that integrate ChatGPT's upgraded AI. The new Bing and Edge apps have the following features:

◆Better search
The new Bing offers an improved version of the search experience you're familiar with, providing more relevant results for simple things like sports scores, stocks and weather, and a new sidebar that surfaces more comprehensive answers when you need them.

◆Perfect answer
Bing reviews results from across the web to find and summarize the answers you're looking for, so you can instantly get detailed instructions on how to replace eggs with another ingredient in a cake, without having to scroll through multiple results.

◆New chat experience
For more complex searches, like planning a detailed travel itinerary or researching a TV to buy, Bing provides detailed and clear ideas with a new interactive chat, allowing users to refine search results until they find the perfect answer they're looking for.

◆Creative Spark
But you need more than just an answer to your question. The new Bing uses AI to generate helpful content to help you write an email, create a Hawaii itinerary, book a hotel, prepare for a job interview, create a trivia quiz, and more. It also cites the sources of answers and provides links to the web content they reference.

New Edge Experience
Edge has been upgraded with new AI features and a new look, specifically adding two new features: chat and creation. Edge's sidebar allows you to extract key points from a long financial report summary. You can also use the chat feature to compare your financials with those of your competitors and automatically create a table. You can also ask Edge for help creating content, such as LinkedIn posts.



Microsoft touts the new Bing as the culmination of four technological breakthroughs:

Next-generation OpenAI model
The new Bing uses OpenAI's next-generation large-scale language model, which is more powerful than ChatGPT and specifically tailored for search. This AI model incorporates key learnings and advancements from ChatGPT and GPT-3.5, making it faster, more accurate, and more functional than both.

◆Microsoft Prometheus Model
As a unique way to use OpenAI models, Microsoft is developing the Prometheus model, which, combined with OpenAI models, will result in more relevant, timely, and targeted search results, while also improving safety.

◆ AI applied to core search algorithm
The application of AI models to the core Bing search ranking engine represents the biggest leap in relevance in the last 20 years, making even basic search queries more accurate and relevant.

◆New User Experience
We're reimagining how people interact with search, browser, and chat by bringing them together in a unified experience.
