Brand New Tractor at Half the Price from Ursa Ag - YouTube
According to Ursa Ag owner Doug Wilson, tractor prices had skyrocketed to an unaffordable level around 2018, and at the same time, electronic components had become impossible to repair oneself, making it essential to send them to the manufacturer for repairs. Therefore, with the goal of 'creating affordable, simple, and self-repairable tractors,' they started making tractors at Ursa Ag.
Our current flagship products are the 260-horsepower ' Ursa Ag 260 ' and the 180-horsepower ' Ursa Ag 180 '.
The Ursa Ag 260 is equipped with a Cummins 8.3-liter engine, which was commonly used in tractors in the 1990s. It's an engine that many farmers are familiar with, and it's reliable and easy to maintain, with no 'unclear aspects.'

The Ursa Ag 180 is equipped with a Cummins 5.6-liter engine. This is also a commonly used engine, so most people who operate tractors should be able to maintain it.
Ursa Ag sources parts from around the world and manufactures tractors in Alberta. Because they don't use the latest electronics and use refurbished engines, while a fully equipped tractor from a typical manufacturer costs 400,000 Canadian dollars (approximately 46.7 million yen), the Ursa Ag 260 is available for 199,900 Canadian dollars (approximately 23.3 million yen) and the Ursa Ag 180 for 149,900 Canadian dollars (approximately 17.5 million yen), making them roughly half the price. They plan to produce more tractors in 2026 than they have produced in total since their founding.
Wilson says he has also received inquiries from the United States. Although there are currently no distributors in the U.S., Wilson answered the question of whether it is available in the U.S. with a simple 'Yes, it is,' and it seems he plans to do something about it.
Hacker News points out that the reason for choosing this model isn't simply because it's 'cheap,' but also because of ' a backlash against a locked-in ecosystem .' There were also comments expressing a desire for an EV with features similar to Ursa Ag's concept, such as 'no tracking functions or touchscreens .'
