Roblox introduces new account systems for minors, 'Roblox Kids' and 'Roblox Select,' restricting playable games based on content maturity.
Roblox, the online gaming platform that has captivated children, has announced that it will be introducing two new account types starting in June 2026. The new system will integrate age verification, parental controls, moderation, and other features into the framework.

According to Roblox, the new accounts come in two types: ' Roblox Kids ' for ages 5-8 and ' Roblox Select ' for ages 9-15. Accounts will be automatically assigned once age verification is completed through Roblox's age verification system or by a verified parent.
When allowing content use across two accounts, Roblox implemented a selection process based on three additional criteria: 'developer identity verification,' 'real-time evaluation,' and ' content maturity rating.'
Roblox Kids accounts have access to content that has passed a selection process and is rated as 'Very Small' or 'Mild,' and all communications are turned off by default.
On the other hand, Roblox Select accounts have access to content that has passed the selection process and has a content maturity level of 'medium.' There are no changes to communication settings.
If you do not verify your age, your account will be classified as a 'Roblox Kids' account regardless of your age. If you verify your age, your account will automatically transition to either a Kids account or a Select account over time, and from a Select account to a Normal account.
Roblox is still in the process of selecting which games will be available, so they did not disclose specific numbers regarding the number of games that will be playable on Kids and Select accounts at the time of the announcement. However, they expect that the vast majority of games that users enjoy will be playable without any problems. Users aged 16 and over will be able to play as before.
The update is scheduled to be available worldwide by early June 2026.
