On April 11, 2026, local time, the hacker group ShinyHunters posted on a dark web site dedicated to leaks that they had hacked into the servers of Snowflake, the cloud hosting provider used by Rockstar Games.

ShinyHunters posted, 'Thanks to Rockstar Games and Anodot.com, we have been able to compromise Rockstar Games' Snowflake instance. Choose either pay the ransom or leak your information. Contact us by April 14, 2026. This is your final warning. Otherwise, you will be subjected to a data breach and a number of nasty digital problems that will befall Rockstar Games. Make the right decision. Don't become the next headline,' demanding a ransom payment by April 14.



Anodot is a tool for monitoring cloud costs and detecting unusual spending. Therefore, companies need to grant Anodot advanced access to their cloud infrastructure. In the case of Rockstar Games, it is likely that they have given Anodot access to Snowflake.

There are

reports that Anodot suffered a security breach in early April 2026. It is unclear whether this breach is related to the current hacking incident, but security media outlet The CyberSec Guru points out that ShinyHunters may not have breached Snowflake's security, but rather accessed Snowflake and its data via Anodot.



ShinyHunters has not disclosed what data or files it stole. However, it is believed that they did not have access to user passwords or personal information, and it has been suggested that they may have stolen 'data that Rockstar Games would not want to be made public online in a few days,' such as contracts, financial documents, and marketing plans.

ShinyHunters is a hacker group that has been active since 2020, primarily targeting large corporations. In the past, companies such as Microsoft, Ticketmaster, Cisco, AT&T, and Wattpad have been targeted by their hacking activities.

Rockstar Games was also hacked in 2022, resulting in the leakage of data related to GTA 6. This hack was carried out by a teenager who had gained access to Rockstar Games' Slack channel. The teenager was arrested and sentenced to indefinite hospitalization .

Rockstar Games has acknowledged to the overseas gaming media outlet Kotaku that they were hacked. A spokesperson for Rockstar Games sent a statement to Kotaku saying, 'We have confirmed that some non-critical company information was leaked in connection with a data breach by a third party. This incident will not affect our organization or players in any way.' While acknowledging the hacking incident, they stated that no important information was leaked.
